Assessment

Purpose:

The Assessment includes:

  • Identifies areas of strength and weakness in the child’s communication and literacy skills
  • Shows whether the child’s skills are typically developing, delayed or disordered
  • Determines whether therapy or other forms of support are required
  • Creates individualised long-term, short-term and session therapy goals that are specific to the child’s needs
  • Collection of information from family members and professionals involved in the child’s care through questionnaires and interviews
  • Direct testing of the child’s communication and literacy skills using both standardised and informal tests
  • A feedback meeting where assessment findings are explained and recommendations discussed
  • A written report detailing the assessment results and recommendations
