Purpose:
The Assessment includes:
- Identifies areas of strength and weakness in the child’s communication and literacy skills
- Shows whether the child’s skills are typically developing, delayed or disordered
- Determines whether therapy or other forms of support are required
- Creates individualised long-term, short-term and session therapy goals that are specific to the child’s needs
- Collection of information from family members and professionals involved in the child’s care through questionnaires and interviews
- Direct testing of the child’s communication and literacy skills using both standardised and informal tests
- A feedback meeting where assessment findings are explained and recommendations discussed
- A written report detailing the assessment results and recommendations
